Editorial Policy

Last updated 18 August 2026.

Here’s how I decide what goes on this site, so you know what you’re reading.

How I recommend things

  • I recommend what I’d tell a friend to buy. That’s the whole filter.
  • No brand can pay for a placement, a rating, or a kind word.
  • Where it matters — hair and skin especially — I favour products with clean, non-toxic formulations.
  • If I’ve used something, I say so. If I haven’t, I say that too and explain what the recommendation rests on.

Sponsored content

If a post is sponsored or a product was gifted, it says so clearly at the top — not buried at the bottom. A sponsor never gets approval over my opinion. If I don’t like something, I don’t publish about it.

Getting things wrong

I will occasionally. When I do, I fix the post and note what changed rather than quietly editing it. If you spot an error, email hello@bylauna.com — I’d genuinely rather hear it.

Keeping posts current

Product recommendations go stale. I revisit older guides and update them when a product changes, gets discontinued, or is beaten by something better.

Images

Photos are mine unless credited. Some illustrative images are AI-generated; where a photo is a styled recreation rather than a real photograph, it’s labelled.

Money

This site earns through affiliate commissions and occasional sponsorships. That’s what pays for hosting and the time to write. Full detail on the affiliate disclosure page.
