The short version
I don’t sell your information. I don’t run advertising trackers. This site sets no cookies at all unless you leave a comment or subscribe to my email list. If you just read a post and leave, nothing about you is stored on this site. The one exception is my socials page, which shows my TikTok and Facebook feeds inside players those companies provide — and they set their own cookies. It’s the only page that does.
The longer version below explains exactly what happens, and who else is involved.
Who I am
LAUNA is a personal blog published at bylauna.com. For any privacy question, or to request your data or its deletion, write to hello@bylauna.com.
What I collect
Information you give me
- Email address — only if you subscribe to my newsletter. Nothing else is required.
- Comments — if you comment on a post, WordPress stores the name and email you type, your comment, your IP address, and your browser’s user-agent string. That’s WordPress’s standard behaviour and it helps catch spam.
- Anything you email me — if you write to hello@bylauna.com, I keep the message so I can reply.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs. My web host records the usual request data — IP address, time, page requested, browser and referring page. I use this only to keep the site running and secure.
What I do NOT collect
Stated plainly, because it’s unusual enough to be worth naming:
- No analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no Tag Manager, no Plausible, no Fathom, no Hotjar, no Microsoft Clarity, no Segment.
- No advertising or social pixels. No Meta/Facebook pixel, no Pinterest tag, no TikTok pixel, no Google Ads remarketing.
- No cookies for ordinary visitors. Reading this site sets nothing on your device — apart from my socials page, where the embedded TikTok and Facebook players set cookies of their own.
- No accounts. Public registration is closed; there are no visitor logins or profiles.
- No selling or sharing. I have never sold personal information and I don’t share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Why I use it, and my lawful basis
- To send the newsletter — on your consent, which you can withdraw any time by unsubscribing.
- To publish and moderate comments — my legitimate interest in running a readable, spam-free site.
- To keep the site up and secure — my legitimate interest in operating it.
- To reply to you — because you asked me to.
Affiliate links
Some posts contain affiliate links. If you buy through one, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are marked, and the retailer — not me — sets the price.
When you click an affiliate link you leave this site, and the retailer may set its own cookies to attribute the sale. That happens under their privacy policy, not mine. I never receive your payment details, card number, or address from those purchases.
As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
Who else is involved
These are the only third parties that receive anything, and what each one gets:
- Hostinger — my web host. Stores the site and its database, and processes server logs. Servers serving this site are in the United States.
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) — serves the typefaces. Your browser requests the font files, so Google sees your IP address and user-agent.
- jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net) — serves the small animation library the site uses. Same as above: your browser requests the file, so jsDelivr sees your IP address.
- TikTok and Meta (Facebook) — only on my socials page. It shows my TikTok feed and my Facebook page feed inside players those companies host, so when that page loads, your browser contacts them directly. They see your IP address and can set their own cookies, whether or not you have an account with them. No other page on this site loads anything from either company, and there is no TikTok or Meta tracking pixel anywhere.
- Amazon and other affiliate programmes — only once you click an affiliate link and land on their site.
- My email provider — if you subscribe, your address is stored with the service that sends the newsletter, and used for nothing else.
I don’t send your information anywhere else.
International transfers
This site is hosted in the United States. Google, jsDelivr, TikTok and Meta operate globally and may serve requests from a location near you. If you’re in the UK, EU, or EEA, that means your IP address may be processed outside your country. Those transfers rely on the providers’ own safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses where they apply.
How long I keep things
- Newsletter subscriptions — until you unsubscribe, then removed.
- Comments — kept with the post while it’s published, so the conversation still reads.
- Emails you send me — kept while we’re corresponding and for a reasonable period after.
- Server logs — kept on a short rolling window by my host and then overwritten.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask me to show you what I hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email hello@bylauna.com and I’ll action it.
- Unsubscribe — every newsletter has a one-click link, no reply needed.
- If you’re in California (CCPA/CPRA) — you have the right to know, delete, and correct. I do not sell or share your personal information, and I never have, so there is nothing to opt out of. Exercising any of these rights will never get you worse treatment.
- If you’re in the UK, EU, or EEA (GDPR) — you also have rights to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. If you think I’ve handled your data badly, you can complain to your national data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).
Children
This site isn’t aimed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect anything from them. If you’re a parent and believe your child sent me information, email hello@bylauna.com and I’ll delete it.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS, so traffic between your browser and it is encrypted. I keep WordPress and its components updated and use strong administrator credentials. No site can promise perfect security, but I don’t hold sensitive data — no payment details, no government IDs, no health information.
Changes
If I add anything that changes what’s collected — analytics, a new form, an advertising partner — I’ll update this page and change the date at the top. Meaningful changes get a note in the newsletter.
